Research: Institution.

Indie labels and major labels are incredibly different but both produce the same product. Independant labels are a lot smaller and localised as opposed to major labels, or they are part of a large international media group. They are not part of the 'big four' even if they are large complex companies, they are still considered as independant. The 'Indie' label is sometimes used to refer the label at the fact that it doesn't release non-mainstream music regardless of its structure. The major labels are a lot bigger and are typically owned by a conglomerate which often has non-music divisions too. A major label controls and consists of music publishing companies, record, manufacturers, record distributors, and record labels. The recent top major labels are:
Sony Music Entertainment
EMI Group
Warner Music Group
Universal Music Group.

The Major labels manage artists such as Eminem, Rihanna and Beyonce, while the Indie labels manage artists such as: Red Molly and Christopher Shaffer.

We think the instution that will create our media text will be a Major label, this is because we will want our music video to go to a wider audience, and to be able to promote our music and artist to more people.
