Research: Genre of Music Videos.

For this section I have chosen the music video 'Sexy Chick' by David Guetta feat Akon. This is because I think it follows the conventions of the music video genre.

Firstly I have noticed there is a relationship between the lyrics and visuals, as the lyrics are based on sexy females, and that fact the men are surrounded by the girls, there are a lot of women in swimwear showing off their assets to attract attention. The visuals do amplify the lyrics and put an image in your head based on the lyrics, and the fact that the men are out to get the women. It does start off with a woman in a bikini and not the artist, which explains that this video is obviously going to be based around women.


This style of music does have its own video style of pop, where they are on location, it is bright, interesting and extremely busy, with the fact there are a lot of people, on all different levels, and also how everybody is doing something different. There are a lot of close ups of the main artists, which does explain that this is their song, and does promote themselves, this is shown when Akon is singing in the pool directly into the camera.

 In this video the artists are in the video, but not all the time as it seems to focus mainly on the females in their outfits, because this is what the song is about. The different shots do determine this and there are a lot of close ups on the females body parts which does link to the male gaze and voyeurism.
