Research: Target Audience Questionnaire.

This is our conclusion of our questionnaire, and we are really happy with the results.

1. Would you rather a female or male being the main artist?

We are really happy with this result because of the fact that we wanted to use a female to promote the video and song. Also, because the song is from a females point of view and is revolved around a girl, plus this song is a heartfelt and feminine song so it would link everything together using a female. We do think using a male would be good to do, however we would have to change the pitch of the voice and a lot of our music video ideas.

2. Do you enjoy the genre singer/songwriter?

Luckily all the people we asked said yes which is brilliant because of the fact that we know people will enjoy this song and will want to watch the video.

3. Does it matter about the age of the artist to you ?

Yes – 0

We have decided to use a female that is 16, which we thought to some people could be a problem because they may not be able to relate to it from a younger artist, or they may just enjoy music videos that are being filmed by older women. However, we are really happy at the fact that the people we asked are not bothered about the age of the artist and that they would just enjoy the music as it is.

4. Do you find it easy to relate to songs like this?

This song we have chosen is a really heartfelt song, and needs to show emotion clearly which is why we wanted to know if people find it easy to relate to songs like this. The fact that five people do is enough to be able to do this and because this is what we have wanted to do from the beginning.

5. Do you like it when you can relate to songs by singer/songwriters?

We were really hoping that this would be the answer because the song we have chosen is a song that people can relate to, therefore they will be happy to listen and watch the music video. This is also something we can work on in our visuals making sure of the fact that they can relate to the music video and the song.

6. Do you prefer when the songs are fast or slow paced?

Unfortunately the song we have chosen is slow paced which is not what the majority of the people i asked enjoy, however i do think if we make the music video interesting and it is a song everyone knows then they will enjoy the video.

7. Do you think songs like this should be full of colour and busy or just basic?

We have decided to focus our music video on black and white and basic colours which is what all of the people i asked think this type of song should be. We are really happy with this conclusion because we have planned for our music video to have basic colours, which will appeal to more people.

8. Do you think direct address helps you to connect to the song?

We haven't really thought about direct address because we didn't know what people would prefer but after using the questionnaire it is obvious that not many people are too bothered about it. Therefore we will use a bit of direct address but not as much as we thought we would need to for people to connect to the song.

9. What kind of music do you prefer to listen to?

We asked this question because we wanted to know what kind of music people prefer, it was split between three, and luckily more people do enjoy indie which is what this type of genre is closest to. 

10. Do you think this type of music should be in the charts or just pop?

We are really happy with this result because it is an upcoming genre and is starting to dominate the charts, plus it is becoming more and more popular with a wide range of people. 


We am extremely happy with our results and this all links together to create the best music video we can produce.
