Throughout the long process of completing our media coursework we have used plenty of different media tecnologies through the different stages such as construction, research, planning and evaluation. These have helped us to make both our main product and printwork to the best it could be.
Firstly, for every part of our coursework we have used the 'Apple Macs' which are incredible pieces of technology as they are full of different applications which has enabled to complete our coursework using all different sorts of technology such Photoshop, Indesign, Final Cut and Safari. As we had to complete this piece of work over a short period of time and complete lots of different stages to it, I am extremley pleased that we were able to create our media text on the Macs as they are very fast and were perfect for the job we had to do.
For the research stage of our media text we had to use the program 'Safari' because our research included using lots of the internet. On safari we used Google, Youtube, Slideshare and Blogger. The main thing we used on safari was blogger as we complete our coursework through posting everything onto this website so this has been extremley important whilst using the media technologies, as without blogger we would'nt have been able to complete our coursework. Secondly, Google allowed us to reseach the full web on what we needed to know for example when we were having to answer a question about media and the techniques. Also, Youtube has been very helpful for when we had to research and look at other music videos and artists to find out what genre we wanted to base our media text on and ideas for shots we could use. It has also allowed us to upload videos on to it such as our audience feedback and our final product so then we are able to get them onto our blog in the evaluation stages. Youtube has been a critical piece throughout our coursework and without it I don't think we would have been able to make our coursework as good as it is and do the things we have done. Finally, slideshare has been another useful technology throughout all the stages as when we have created a powerpoint we uploaded it onto slideshare to once again be able to get the powerpoint onto our blog , and powerpoints we have completed throughout our coursework have been crucial to do. Therefore we have used Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint. They have both helped us to complete questions we have had to answer for our coursework. Also Word has allowed us to create a script for our 'Directors Commentary' and Powerpoint has let me create things such as a slideshow on our 'Audience Feedback', and every now and then I think using Powerpoint makes our work more interesting and different instead of it constantly being blog posts. Not forgetting Microsoft Excel, this has allowed us to make graphs demonstrating our audience feedback answers. All three have been very helpful within the evaluation stage and I like how simple and easy they are to use.
Moving onto creating our music video we used plenty of equipment and technologies to enable us to have the clips in our product that we wanted and have our shots to the best quality. Therefore we wanted to use the 'HD Camera' but as we decided to do all our shots on location because we thought this would fit our brand image and genre better after looking at other singer/songwriters music videos through research such as Adele, we then came across a problem as we couldn't take it off college site. Even though the HD Camera is such a fantastic piece of equipment as it gave such a good quality to your shots we did get to use another camera. This wasn't as effective as the HD and the quality of our shots on location wasn't brilliant. Some location shots were blurry but we used brightness and contrast whilst editing them in the stage of created our product so therefore they would look much better. This worked which we were very pleased with. Another part of equipment we used to make our shots of a better quality was a 'Tripod'. The tripod was used so therefore the shots we got wouldn't be shaky. The tripod allowed us to place our camera on top of it and move it around and zoom in and out freely, and overall this made our shots very good.
Lastly, once all our shots were filmed we had the most important job of creating our product. To make our music video we used 'Final Cut'. At the beginning I personally found it very difficult getting used to how it worked as it has so many different buttons on it for different meanings. However, after using it constantly for weeks, I began to get the hang of it and in the end I couldn't think of a better program to create our main product on as it offers so much. All of the buttons then, that confused me in the first place became a great advantage for us because they made our final product much better than what it would have been.
For printwork we had to take photos so we decided to take ours on location as this best fitted with our artists brand image and genre. We used Joanna's Canon Camera as this produces a brilliant picture quality. I am glad we were able to take our printwork photos with this as they wouldn't have looked as good if we used a regular camera. Once the photos were taken we edited them on 'Photoshop' and 'Indesign'. These two technologies enhanced our chance of creating fantastic pieces of work with everything it allows you to do to your photos through editing them with colour, etc. Photoshop let us edit our images to make them brighter or darker, whichever effect would help to make the photo fit our genre better, it had plenty of choice of options for fonts to decide on the most effective one. And also allowed us to put a border around the image of our front cover therefore it would stand out a lot more to the audience. Luckily, as we felt the images for our print product were already at a great standard we didn't have to change them so much on photoshop and indesign. Lastly, all of the buttons on the program phased me at first but by the end they were all another great advantage we were given. Finally, we decided to go on the website 'www.dafont.com' to search for the perfect font to go on our printwork that would best fit with our genre and brand image. This was because we felt that just the regular fonts on the computer didn't give us enough choice and on this website we could find a font more powerful and what stood out to the audience more.

Overall, I feel with all the media technologies and equipment we were able to use we have created a brilliant media text with a great meaning and I am very pleased with what me and my partner have created.
