All About Our Photographs For Print Work.

For our front cover for our print we have chosen this photo of our artist as we think it will stand out following our genre of how she is a very emotional, quiet but a sophisticated girl especially how this photo is very light and delicate. This emphasises how she is a singer song writer because of the black and white effect makes her look plain on the photo, which singer/song writers tend to be. E.g - Adele and her album covers. On the photo we have also used contrast and brightness to enhance the difference between black and white as we believed with this it would be a lot stronger photo and we have faded in a slight shadow along the left hand side to add a ghostly effect to show how she is lost in herself and heart broken. Talking along these lines, we have made a large font to go at the bottom of the photo with a black outline and a baby pink colour. The reason we placed her name at the bottom of the photo was so the audiences attention wouldn't be taken away from our aritsts face. And the font colour of baby pink we used was to made her name stand out and contrast with the colours of black and white on our photo. Finally, we placed a black border around the edges of the front cover so therefore we made sure we definitly attracted the audiences attention.

We have chosen this photo for our back cover as we thought it would be perfect for it. It is very interesting to look at and we have put our song list down the left hand side so it looks impressive with the photo on the right hand side. Doing this has made our back cover incredibly effective but it has also helped by us using brightness so the back of her is lit following what she is like in our actual music video where some of the time you can only see her because of the candle lighting her up. We have used the same colour and font for the writing as the front cover because this is following the conventions of print work, and it all links, and works together. I am very impressed with what we have created for our back cover as I truly believe it looks like something you would find in the shop with the barcode, advertisments and our artists website in the left hand corner. And lastly, we have made the front cover and back cover completely different with colours from the front being black and white and the back just normal to make our album covers something new, different and exciting.

For our inside covers we have chose two photographs which we believe will represent our artist herself and her genre. Our first photograph is the one above of her on the stairs and we have made this black and white so then the audience are attracted to just her with the strong use of colour and also using the black and white again, it links back to how we did the same on our front cover. This now looks much better as we don't just have one cover in black and white. With this photo we have also used brightness and contrast to make her stand out in her white dress and make the background much darker therefore this adds a haunted effect and represents her heartbreak and sadness along with the lonely posture she is holding and the look upon her face.

For our second inside cover we have cleverly contrasted two photos together with a faded dissolving effect. With the candle over her face it looks as though her face is being lit by it which represents the story we tell about her and our music video. Because within our music video we have used a light on her face alot and brightened her up because as she is a singer/song writer we need the focus to be on her. Especially on this photo it follows this as the light focus' directly on her which is also good as the two photos put together don't focus on just one and take the focus off the other. Another thing which makes this photo powerful is the direct address being used from our aritst, which is also used a lot in our music video. This makes the audience be able to look into her eyes and really feel for her and understand her much better.

Because this photo is for our magazine article on our artist we decided we wanted a long photo so it stands out being larger and looks interesting to read. This is why we once again decided to use the font and font colour we used for our front cover. The font stands out also with the black border on it and the baby pink colour links with the pinky colour that the photo also creates being a very bright captured photo. We placed the 'Sara McConville' title above the actual photo so it doesn't distract the audience away from the photo as it is very powerful and tells the audience alot about our artist and what her music is about along with the other photos we have used for the printwork. Then finally we have the date her album is released at the bottom of the magazine and a small photo in the bottom right corner. I think we did this the correct way so then the audience look at our photo first, then title, and finally the release date and small album cover.

I believe that our covers are the best they could be and focus completley on our artist actual brand image. Emotional, heartbroke, simple, delicate and sophisticated.
